II. Haikus

Is there anything more delightful than a haiku poem? A haiku is a small poem. Seventeen syllables. Three lines. A haiku poem is simultaneously modest and intense. Evocative and mysterious. Rather than giving us an answer, a haiku poem normally hands us a question. Yet, as the great poet Rilke once wrote, “We need to learn to love the questions!” I love small paintings. I paint them every week. They are modest and unpretentious. Diminutive but deep. I hope you might like them too. They are four inches by four inches, easily framed, and they make wonderful gifts for friends. After all, what could be better than giving a friend an original work of art! RSC
